Privacy is the product
HeyFound.it exists so two strangers can coordinate a return without exchanging personal information. Everything below follows from that principle.
What finders see
Only what you choose to publish to your vault: a first name, an optional note, an optional reward, and — for premium tags — the item details you set. Never your email, phone number, or address.
What we collect
Your account email and password (stored hashed), the contact details you add for relay delivery, your tags and orders, relay messages, and anonymous scan events (device family and time only — we do not track finder identity or precise location).
What finders share
A finder’s name and contact info are delivered only to the tag’s owner, for the sole purpose of returning the item.
What we never do
We never sell personal data, never show owner PII on public pages, and never require finders to create an account or install an app.
Payments
Card details are processed by Stripe and never touch our servers.
Email & SMS
We send transactional messages only: order confirmations, relay notifications, scan alerts you opted into by marking an item lost, and reply relays. No marketing without separate consent.
Data control
You can edit or clear your vault details anytime from the dashboard, and delete your account entirely — self-serve, from Vault Settings — which erases your messages and scan history and returns your tags to the unclaimed pool.
